The Most Important Question To Ask Your Wedding Vendors

Brides and grooms preparing for their wedding day have a lot of questions.

Which is a very good thing!

If you’re getting married, we think you should have questions for and about the services you’re using on your big day.

Any level of uncertainty about the quality of their product or service can ruin your wedding day because you were meant to be celebrating, not worrying about whether a professional will be able to pull through.

Based on our experiences, this is the most important question you could ask any photographer or other vendor:

What is your style and why do you love to do it that way?

You may be thinking, “How can florists or cake decorators have a style? And how does a question about style, tell me all about them?”

Admittedly, it is an unconventional question. But the great part about it is that all-in-one, it answers these top four questions you could ask about vendors:

1.) Does their work fit with the theme of my wedding?

How they answer the question will tell you whether or not they are flexible in the work they deliver so that it meets your needs or whether or not they are targeted towards more specific styles of weddings.

2.) How will they make me feel on my wedding day?

The excitement of a vendor, especially our niche, photography, can make or break your experience. The last thing you want is someone who isn’t passionate about what they do and are only mildly excited about what they do. When someone loves what they do, it shows. Look for that spark.

3.) Will they listen to me and what I want for my wedding?

Many vendors have a style but if you love what they offer and want a slight variation of it, most will be excited about helping you create your dream wedding. Asking them about their style starts a conversation which helps you know whether or not they’re truly interested in serving you.

4.) How experienced are they and have they done this before?

How comfortable they are answering your question, the quality of their answer and whether or not they ask you questions is a great way to gauge their experience at weddings. While some vendors perform beautifully at their first weddings, if you’re looking for a level of service which comes from having done at least 20 weddings, listen to how they talk about what they do. It will tell you everything you need to know about the quality of their service and how dedicated they are to their clients.
