Mississauga City Hall Wedding with Brittany and Adrian

Planning a Mississauga City Hall wedding and wondering what your wedding day could look like? This real wedding follows Brittany and Adrian’s six-hour celebration, from getting-ready photos through their intimate civil ceremony and creative portraits inside and outside Mississauga City Hall. The story highlights how thoughtful planning, documentary wedding photography, family moments, and the beautiful architecture of Mississauga City Hall can transform a simple courthouse wedding into an elegant and memorable experience. You’ll also discover why city hall weddings have become an excellent option for couples seeking meaningful celebrations, beautiful photography, and flexible wedding coverage.

This Mississauga City Hall wedding was my second time having the pleasure of working at this city hall.

Brittany was referred to me by her mother-in-law, who stumbled upon my city hall wedding blog post about Trish and Kavi. Once she connected with me, it was clear they were looking for something similar to my past city hall wedding, but with a different twist.

Happy to be working another wedding at Mississauga City Hall, I was excited to hear their plans.

Planning a Mississauga City Hall Wedding with a Personal Twist

While planning their Mississauga City Hall wedding, Brittany wanted to share their wants and don’ts.

Usually, city hall weddings are short and quick, with only brief photography coverage. However, Brittany wanted full getting-ready photos of Adrian, the groom, followed by full getting-ready photos of herself, the wedding ceremony, a photo session with their wedding guests, and, after that, an hour-long photo session of just the two of them.

The only thing Brittany was not interested in was the wedding reception or party. To me, that was such a smart choice and perfectly aligned with their needs.

To make sure we could fit all of that into the day, they selected my 6-hour photography coverage, which worked perfectly for them.
I was able to go to Adrian first to capture his getting-ready photos, and then head to Brittany’s parents’ house, where I photographed Brittany getting ready.

With my experience photographing city hall weddings, I arrived at Mississauga City Hall on time to capture their civic wedding ceremony. Afterwards, we did a photo session with the two of them, their immediate family, and friends. We had planned everything perfectly, and now it was time to execute the plan.

The Groom Getting-Ready Wedding Photos

When working with the groom and his family, you never know how things will unfold. Sometimes everything is perfectly planned with the help of the groom’s mother, and everything goes smoothly. Other times, the groom and his groomsmen are laid-back, and things are much more spontaneous and candid, which, in a way, represents the groom in the best possible way.

I accept the energy of the house and aim to maintain the atmosphere rather than tailor it to industry norms. Instead, I present it in the best creative way possible, with lots of emotion and candid moments.

Adrian was a groom who had everything perfectly ready and was simply waiting for me. His mom made sure their main bedroom was spotless for her son’s getting-ready photos. Seeing that everything was perfect, I immediately started working on the details that had been set up for me.

I tried to capture everything as quickly as possible before moving on to the candid moments while the best man and Adrian’s father helped Adrian get ready for his wedding.

The weather was perfect, which allowed us to photograph the first part of the coverage indoors. Once we moved outside, I was able to bring some colour to this part of the wedding by incorporating the house’s outdoor landscape.

With everything captured on time, I left their house and drove to Brittany’s place.

The Bride’s Getting-Ready Photos for This Mississauga City Hall Wedding

When I arrived at Brittany’s, she was perfectly ready, similar to Adrian’s house. I loved this, knowing that I could focus on the actual photos instead of running late or getting behind because of the many factors that can slow you down on a wedding day.

Brittany’s wedding dress was gorgeous. Set on a mannequin in one corner of the house, where the light was perfectly illuminating it, it was ready for me to capture. Her details were already set out for me, and I needed only a few minutes to capture this amazing, well-planned, and beautifully set-up scene for her wedding.

As Brittany got dressed, I made sure to capture those candid moments before her first look with her dad.

Every reveal with a bride’s father is unique, and Brittany’s dad was no exception. I captured everything as candidly as I could right before Brittany walked down the stairs to share a special moment with her grandparents.

After we took our family photos and some individual portraits of Brittany, I left.

The Civic Wedding Ceremony at The City Hall

Having photographed at Mississauga City Hall many times, I knew the best way to park and arrive at the wedding room in a very short time.

As I set up my equipment, I focused on the candid moments in anticipation of the ceremony.

Adrian’s nephew and his best man’s daughter were the flower girl and ring bearer. The toy car was set up in the middle of the room, planned to be used for walking down the aisle and to keep these little ones entertained.

Instead of trying to pose them, I focused on capturing photos that showcased the true essence of the moment. The kids were not sure why they were there, but they liked that the car was there, and that was all we needed.

Kids on a wedding day bring so much joy and help relax the adults, who think they are in more control, but deep inside, they are panicking more than the little ones.

As the moment arrived, Adrian walked his mom down the aisle, and Brittany appeared with her dad.

City Hall wedding ceremonies are very short, so instead of taking time to capture the ceremony from so many angles, I was shooting a bit faster than usual, knowing that the first kiss would arrive in a heartbeat and we would be all done.

And that happened just as I predicted, right after the registrar’s signature.

After we took photos with their grandparents, not knowing if they would feel comfortable with photos afterwards, we walked into the lobby of Mississauga City Hall.

Creative Mississauga City Hall Wedding Photos Inside the Building

We had about 1.5 hours of my coverage left, and I suggested taking photos with their immediate family before their wedding couple photo session.

In the lobby, the lighting was amazing, and we used the center of Mississauga City Hall to take our photos. At the end, we took a couple of large group photos of everyone present at the wedding ceremony before we started the wedding couple photos.

The image that Adrian’s mother was drawn to in my style was the wide shot of a wedding couple in the middle of the staircases, photographed from the lower end of the stairs.

As I knew about it, I positioned the couple in a similar location and went downstairs to capture those photos.

After shooting multiple variations of that shot, I climbed to the top of the stairs and, now photographing from above, captured some very creative and intimate photos of Brittany and Adrian, with their wedding ceremony room in the background.

Knowing I had limited time to work with them, I used this space to take the most intimate photos because it was private and secluded, and no one was there to oversee us.

At the same time, I built rapport with both of them so that once we were outside, I could instruct them more effectively and achieve great results.

After finishing our indoor wedding photos at Mississauga City Hall, we had 30 minutes left for our outdoor photos. That was perfect. I exited through the main front doors of the city hall, which led us to the large courtyard with the beautiful fountain at the back.

Mississauga City Hall Wedding Photos Around The Fountain

As I said to Brittany and Adrian, our outdoor photos would be more candid and spontaneous, with plenty of walking, movement, and great interaction.

They understood me perfectly, and as they exited the large doors, I started their outdoor wedding photos.

Seeing the courtyard at city hall, I planned to work with the couple around the fountain, and when my coverage finished and they needed to leave, I would bring them back to the same place where we had started.

Capturing their carefree walk around the right side of the fountain, we started walking into the direct sunlight, which showcased the vibrant colours of the blue sky and the Mississauga street fairground set up at that time of day.

I knew I wanted to create some creative photos around the fountain using the water jets, so I asked the couple to move to the other side while I stood on the opposite side, photographing them through the jets. I used the water to vignette the couple, leading the viewer’s eye to the centre, where they were standing facing each other.

As they walked towards me from the other side, I could see them happily interacting and smiling, which was my goal for the end of their coverage.

As they came closer to me, I photographed some more intimate images, using Brittany’s wedding veil and the softest light I could create.

Perfect timing, perfect planning, and an amazing result—a happy wedding couple with lasting photo memories.

Why Choose a Mississauga City Hall Wedding

I was so happy that everything worked so well, and this Mississauga City Hall wedding became another amazing experience that I could share with my future wedding couples.

City hall weddings have been very much underutilized for many reasons. Some city halls have very small rooms and are not very helpful to wedding couples, so overall, they do not invite future couples to use their locations. However, lately, just like Mississauga City Hall, Guelph City Hall, Toronto City Hall, Cambridge City Hall, and many more, city halls have created an atmosphere where wedding couples can have a great wedding ceremony with perfect local photography locations. This helps couples who are looking for shorter coverage and a limited budget create their dream wedding.

A city hall wedding may be shorter than a traditional wedding day, but the emotions, family moments, and lifelong memories are just as meaningful. With thoughtful planning and enough time for creative portraits, couples can enjoy a relaxed wedding experience while receiving a complete collection of images that tells the story of their day from beginning to end.

Thank you, Brittany and Adrian, for trusting me with your city hall wedding and allowing me to express my creativity at your Mississauga City Hall wedding. Adrian, I would like to thank your mom for finding me and sharing my details with the two of you; without her, we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to work together.
