MJ and Tristan\u2019s Chinguacousy Park wedding photo session in Brampton was designed to capture the wedding photos they missed on their actual wedding day. Scheduled during a quiet weekday morning, the session made full use of the park\u2019s diverse scenery\u2014from shaded bridges and weeping willows to open sunlit spaces and hidden boardwalk areas. By combining natural light, off-camera flash, and creative techniques like daytime silhouettes, this session showcases how a well-planned Chinguacousy Park wedding photo session can deliver a complete, relaxed, and visually rich wedding gallery in a short amount of time.<\/p>\n

For Majd and Tristan’s Chinguacousy Park wedding photo session, we had the chance to document their love well after their actual wedding day. My couple married a few weeks prior, but they hadn’t had the opportunity to capture proper wedding photos\u2014something they realized they would miss as time passed. When MJ first contacted me, I needed some time to understand the logistics and the specific needs of the session. Still, once she explained, we were able to align their needs and values with my work, and we scheduled an early morning photo session at Chinguacousy Park in Brampton.<\/p>\n

Chinguacousy Park Wedding in the Heart of Brampton<\/h2>\n

I have photographed many sessions<\/em><\/a> at this park, but never an actual wedding. The reason was that, when my couples were free and available for photos, the park was extremely busy, so it never seemed like a good option for my clients or me. As MJ and Tristan were visiting from Ottawa, and Chinguacousy Park was very close to where they were staying, this location became very inviting.<\/p>\n

Knowing all the pros and cons of this location, I suggested meeting around 10 am to avoid the crowd and the harsh noon sun in the middle of summer. Chinguacousy Park weddings are usually photographed in the early and late afternoon, which creates completely different looks in terms of image feel and vibrancy. Working earlier in the day, I was excited to showcase the beauty of this hidden gem located in the heart of Brampton.<\/p>\n

As I arrived at the location well ahead of schedule, I went around the entire area to scout and plan how we could spend our two hours to create some amazing images. There was almost no one at the park, as we had picked a weekday morning, a perfect case scenario. Once MJ and Tristan arrived, they were dressed up exactly as they did on their wedding day. Fresh, with full attention to me and just-finished makeup and hair, I was able to experience a wedding photo session that I have very rarely had the chance to experience, considering that most photo sessions happen in the middle of the day after couples have already gone through 4\u20137 hours of wedding activities.<\/p>\n

The Relaxed and Intimate Photo Session in Brampton<\/h3>\n

Once you arrive at this park from the parking lot, it seems there is nothing that would be attractive for a photo session, whether for classic or modern wedding photos. That was fine with me. I can create something unique from a very average view or an often-overlooked perspective, as we are often looking for exceptionally breathtaking views and may not always spot the small details that make for amazing images.<\/p>\n

We spent 3\u20135 minutes saying hi, interacting in person, and aligning our ideas. Then I started working with my couple on the wooden bridge, which was just in front of the park seen from the parking lot. I used the large pond as a background, but to avoid the already warm sun, we worked in the bridge’s shaded area. I noticed that my couple got comfortable very quickly, so I did not want to spend too much time at one location.<\/p>\n

As we started walking towards the greenhouse\u2014which I was not planning to visit for their Chinguacousy Park wedding photos\u2014I stopped in front of the large weeping willow, which offered some of the most iconic views. The sun was filtering through the weeping willow’s thin branches, creating an amazing backlight that I used to illuminate my couple perfectly. From that area, I went along the path that runs along both sides, lined with lush vegetation. Here, in full shade, I was able to create some images with more movement before bringing them into the middle of the park by the large clock tower.<\/p>\n

The Nighttime Photos, During the Daytime for this Chinguacousy Park Wedding<\/h3>\n

I knew we would work in full sun here, so I positioned them with their backs to the sun and compensated with my off-camera flash, documenting some of their most intimate images. Again, there was nobody to interfere with our work, which made me so happy that we had chosen this time of day.<\/p>\n

During the two-hour photo session, I didn’t have much time to offer them different lighting scenarios to mimic wedding-day lighting. I wondered if I could create a nighttime feel during the day. To create something similar, I positioned my couple in the darkest shaded area and, using the bright sky behind them, created a silhouette effect without using a flash backlight. Exposing for the blue sky in the background, I underexposed them, creating silhouettes of their profiles that give the session a more intimate, nighttime feel. I love the way these images turned out.<\/p>\n

Not stopping at any one location for more than 5 minutes, we passed a brick wall overgrown with ivy, and I used it to create more vibrant images. As we were making our way around the petting zoo, I saw one large, bright red silo that sparked my creativity to a whole new level. The area where I planned to position my couple was fully in shade, but my goal was to create an amazing contrast between the red silo, the blue sky, and their black-and-white outfits.<\/p>\n

Embracing the Full Sun During a Photo Session<\/h4>\n

Surrounded by curious visitors who had begun to fill the park, I finished photographing in this area before some playful kids rode their bikes in front of us. I knew that I wanted to bring MJ and Tristan to the pond area and photograph from the shaded area toward the sun, using it as a backlight. Here, I could already picture the Chinguacousy Park wedding photos in my head perfectly, away from most of the visitors showing up all over the park<\/p>\n

As we finished most of the intimate photos in the secluded area by the second large weeping willow at Chinguacousy Park, we moved to the bridge connecting the other part of the park with the parking lot. Feeling the heat, I realized we would be working under the harsh sun. I decided to have my couple cross the bridge lengthwise, and I captured some very vibrant images of the bridge’s red arches against the blue sky. It was a perfect scene, achievable only at this time of day before the sun moves and washes out the colours of the sky.<\/p>\n

We had about 10 minutes left in our photo session. I wanted to incorporate another part of Chinguacousy Park that many people don’t know exists: the boardwalk right underneath the Pavilion, where you can rent paddleboats. This area is always shaded and secluded, making it a perfect place to work when you need to hide from the sun. At the same time, the wooden planks create another feel, giving MJ and Tristan’s Chinguacousy Park wedding photos a perfect variety.<\/p>\n

The Chinguacousy Park Wedding Photo Taken in Two Hours<\/h4>\n

The pond and the vegetation along its shore created an amazing background. Here, we finished our photos and most of the intimate wedding images. Moving fast to offer my clients so much in two hours, I realized that both of them were super tired but extremely happy with what we had achieved.<\/p>\n

MJ and Tristan were so thankful that it made me very happy. I did my job and some more, I said to myself. I offered them one-of-a-kind wedding photography that is often overlooked and not very appealing to an everyday visitor. One month later, as I delivered their wedding photos, MJ and Tristan placed an order for one large wedding album that I created and had shipped to them from Italy.<\/p>\n
