A Goldie Mill Ruins engagement in Guelph offers a unique blend of historic stone textures and natural golden hour light. This session combines two locations\u2014Goldie Mill Ruins and the Arboretum\u2014to create relaxed, artistic, and emotionally driven engagement photos.<\/p>\n

Morla and Adrian\u2019s Goldie Mill Ruins engagement in Guelph was thoughtfully designed as a two-location experience, starting in the shaded architectural setting of the ruins and continuing into the open landscapes of the University of Guelph Arboretum during golden hour. By planning around light, timing, and movement, the session allowed the couple to fully relax and enjoy the experience, resulting in natural, intimate images that reflect both their connection and the beauty of these iconic Guelph locations.<\/p>\n

Morla and Adrian\u2019s Goldie Mill Ruins engagement was one of the two photo locations my couple wanted to visit that day. Keeping it local, Morla wanted to experience both locations and the beauty we can capture in their engagement photos.<\/p>\n

As a Guelph wedding photographer, I was excited to photograph locally, especially at places that are great for photos and relaxing to visit.<\/p>\n

My travel time that day was only seven minutes, leaving us with a full two hours for photos.<\/p>\n

The Goldie Mill Ruins Engagement Photos in Guelph<\/h2>\n

After I spoke with Morla, we decided to start our photo session at Goldie Mill Ruins and then, before sunset, travel to the University of Guelph Arboretum for the second part of the engagement photos.<\/p>\n

I have done similar multiple-site visits in my city during Taylor and Domenic\u2019s Guelph engagement session.<\/em><\/a> The winter photos showcase a unique beauty compared to the summer photos taken at the same locations.<\/p>\n

We met at the parking lot in front of Goldie Mill, where the afternoon sun was extremely powerful, making us sweat instantly. However, knowing this location, I planned to work here during this time, knowing we would enjoy the shaded area at Goldie Mill Ruins, as the building of the Guelph School of Music was casting a shadow over our spot.<\/p>\n

Working in a bright yet shaded area was an amazing way to start our photo session.<\/p>\n

Morla and Adrian were very relaxed but a bit reserved, not knowing what the session\u2019s atmosphere would be like.<\/p>\n

Seeing my amazing couple, I recognized that right away and explained my plan for this part, what we could do here, and what would be left to complete at the Arboretum.<\/p>\n

Hearing my plan and understanding that I was there for them made both of them very easy to work with. Benefiting from their relaxed personalities, I was able to incorporate many of my creative approaches to create one-of-a-kind Goldie Mill Ruins engagement photos at this amazing location.<\/p>\n

Although small in area, Goldie Mill Ruins offers a variety of unique spots that can provide a great number of photos for my couple.<\/p>\n

We worked at this location until the sun started to soften, then transitioned into the golden hour warmth of its rays.<\/p>\n

The University of Guelph Arboretum Photos<\/h3>\n

Being only two minutes away from this amazing place, I have the privilege of using it as my go-to, not because of its proximity to my studio, but for the beauty it offers for any photography.<\/p>\n

When we arrived at the parking lot, I could tell there wouldn\u2019t be many people because it was during dinner time. We planned it this way so we could enjoy the area uninterrupted, with fewer distractions from other Arboretum visitors.<\/p>\n

Having photographed here many times<\/em><\/a>, I have my own way of navigating the Arboretum that offers a variety of photo opportunities as we move through and visit each spot worth photographing for my couple.<\/p>\n

I always start at the entrance of the Arboretum, and we work around the pond, which offers amazing reflections once I position my couple at the end. The dark organic dye colour the Arboretum uses to reduce algae in the pond creates a perfect reflection that invites every bit of creativity in me.<\/p>\n

As we approached the Italian Garden, I used the water fountain while my couple enjoyed the gentle warmth of golden hour.<\/p>\n

The next location I wanted to enjoy was the Japanese garden.<\/p>\n

As we entered, I could feel the calming atmosphere this place offers. Since nobody was there, we were able to capture these amazing images for their Goldie Mill Ruins engagement and then move to the next place, the English garden.<\/p>\n

The Difference of Guelph Arboretum Compared to the Goldie Mill Ruins Engagement Photos<\/h3>\n

The photos we took at Goldie Mill Ruins were unique to that place, but the photos we were creating at the Arboretum were completely different.<\/p>\n

Not limited by any structures and surrounded by lush greenery and amazing flowers, the images we were taking offered a calm, relaxed atmosphere that matched the relaxed personalities of my couple. By adding some quiet, intimate moments, we created a unique setting that was perfect for my couple.<\/p>\n

As we were finishing the photos in the English garden, I wanted to capture some wider landscape images where my couple would appear very small, blending into the scene.<\/p>\n

As we walked down the path lined with many trees on both sides, I noticed two fantastic opportunities.<\/p>\n

The first one was the birch trees, which provided amazing backlighting from the setting sun behind them. Without wasting time, I posed my couple close to the tree and moved back to capture this amazing moment.<\/p>\n

Once done, we walked a bit and entered the other side of the Arboretum. Here, I asked my couple to walk away from me in the fields while I stayed on the path, trying to visualize the next image I wanted to create.<\/p>\n

And there was the sun, illuminating them from the front and creating an amazing glow around their silhouettes. As I framed this between the trees and used some branches to create the foreground, I took some of my first images of this kind at the Arboretum. I was so excited to keep taking photos here that I forgot the sun was quickly setting.<\/p>\n

The Sunset Photo at the Arboretum<\/h4>\n

As we went to the nearby bridge and captured some more intimate images, we started walking toward the Arboretum entrance, where I saw a perfect opportunity for sunset photos.<\/p>\n

I had noticed this spot a long time before their session, and in that moment, I saw its full potential to create that magic for Morla and Adrian.<\/p>\n

As we arrived at this spot with tall grass in the middle of the fields, I realized I did not need direct sun to create the photos I envisioned. Instead, I could work with the warmth and golden light of golden hour.<\/p>\n

Therefore, I lowered my camera, positioned my couple facing each other, and started capturing photos that tell the true story of Morla and Adrian\u2019s love. With every touch, look, and kiss, my couple was reaffirming their dedication to staying together forever. It was a truly whimsical feeling that I was able to capture and freeze in time.<\/p>\n
