Michelle and Mark\u2019s tent wedding at Terrace on the Green in Brampton showcased a perfect mix of elegance, outdoor charm, and candid moments. From the emotional outdoor ceremony at the central gazebo to golden-hour couple portraits and a lively reception under the tent, every detail was beautifully captured. The wedding featured a red-and-white d\u00e9cor theme, intimate guest interactions, and stunning nighttime garden photos with string lights. This post provides inspiration for planning a tent wedding, including photography tips, d\u00e9cor ideas, lighting advice, and venue highlights.<\/p>\n

For Michelle and Mark\u2019s tent wedding, I had the pleasure of working at one of my very dear wedding venues, Terrace on the Green<\/em><\/a>. I have photographed at this location<\/em><\/a> for many years and am one of their preferred wedding professionals. Over time, I\u2019ve captured countless images throughout the venue, both indoors and outdoors, including the tent area that was added in recent years.<\/p>\n

While I have photographed many weddings and events in their tent, this time I wanted to share my experience specifically through Michelle and Mark\u2019s tent wedding.<\/p>\n

Tent Wedding at Terrace on The Green<\/h2>\n

Michelle reached out to me after being referred by Nick from Terrace on the Green. We connected instantly, and even though they did not include an engagement photo session in their collection, I was confident we would have a fantastic wedding day experience.<\/p>\n

They booked me for a half wedding day coverage only, so, as I usually do, I arrived earlier and set everything up well before my coverage officially began.<\/p>\n

For their tent wedding, they had access to the entire tent, while their ceremony was scheduled to take place at the central gazebo in the heart of Terrace on the Green.<\/p>\n

I set up all my equipment and went to say hello to everyone I knew at Terrace on the Green. Once I realized that my bride would be arriving a bit later than planned, I started photographing the work being done on their setup on the way into the tent.<\/p>\n

Michelle had help from many of her friends. Some were part of the wedding coordination, others were helping with the d\u00e9cor and table setup, and one of her friends\u2014or possibly a relative\u2014was putting the final touches on the wedding cake.<\/p>\n

The decorations were a mix of red and white, which turned out to be a perfect colour choice for this white tent wedding.<\/p>\n

The Getting-Ready Photos at Terrace on The Green<\/h3>\n

Once I saw Michelle arrive at the venue, I could tell she was rushing. Instead of trying to take photos at that moment, I left her to finish the first part of her preparations while I focused on something else.<\/p>\n

Luckily, Mark and his groomsmen arrived at the venue at the same time, so I started working with them right away. Mark was relaxed and smiling, which helped create some lovely photos of him and the boys.<\/p>\n

As I finished their photos, wedding guests began arriving at the venue. The day was gorgeous, and being outside for a late-afternoon wedding ceremony felt refreshing. I made sure to capture some candid images of guests arriving and moving around the outdoor ceremony space.<\/p>\n

After that, I went to the wedding suite, located inside Terrace on the Green, and took a few photos of Michelle. At this point, she was noticeably more anxious than when she first arrived.<\/p>\n

I had two options: continue photographing my bride, which would have added to the stress, or give her some space and come back once she felt more relaxed. I chose the second option, allowing her time to gather her thoughts before walking down the aisle.<\/p>\n

The Outdoor Ceremony For This Tent Wedding<\/h3>\n

As I covered the event on my own, I gathered all the photos I needed and waited for my bride to arrive, escorted by her bridal party.
\nWith so much space for their outdoor ceremony, I was able to photograph her arrival from many different angles, allowing me to fully cover the moment.<\/p>\n

Once she reached her dad, who was waiting to walk her down the aisle, their outdoor wedding ceremony at Terrace on the Green began.
\nThe ceremony was very emotional, filled with happy tears and gratitude from the wedding guests who were there to witness the union of these two lovely people.<\/p>\n

As an advocate for documentary-style coverage, I photographed their ceremony entirely in a documentary way, without any posed moments. When you choose this approach, time seems to fly because the focus shifts from the photos themselves to the moments and emotions unfolding naturally.<\/p>\n

After their first kiss, they walked to the end of the garden pathway, where they wanted to thank each guest as they made their way toward the front of the tent for cocktail hour.<\/p>\n

After they thanked the last guest, I seized the opportunity to photograph the wedding party and immediate family in that location. Then, I let them enjoy the celebration with the rest of their guests.<\/p>\n

The Photo Session at The Terrace on The Green<\/h3>\n

Once I was finished with everyone\u2019s photos, I started working with my couple at a few different locations, with the venue being my favourite. At the same time, the sun had already set behind the trees on the west side of the venue, giving us beautifully balanced light that I was able to use to its full advantage.<\/p>\n

With this light, we incorporated their golden-hour photos into their session and captured images that truly showcased their love for each other, along with a few more candid moments.<\/p>\n

Once I brought my couple back to the wedding cocktail party areas, I began photographing their wedding guests as they enjoyed the tasty finger food and the amazing cocktails the couple had chosen for them.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t have to rush at all, as I had already photographed all the setup details for their tent wedding, which allowed me to focus entirely on candid photos of their wedding guests.<\/p>\n

The Tent Wedding Reception Dinner at Terrace on The Green<\/h4>\n

As night slowly replaced the remaining daylight, all the guests moved inside the tent to witness Michelle and Mark\u2019s grand entrance.
\nThey sat together at their sweetheart table, with family and their bridal party filling the tables on either side.<\/p>\n

The night reception at this tent wedding started perfectly. The warm light from the chandeliers hanging in the centre of the tent created a cozy ambiance, making everyone feel relaxed and present as they celebrated my couple.<\/p>\n

After my couple finished their first dance, they had hired a dance duo to perform for them. The performers then brought Michelle and Mark onto the dance floor and invited the rest of the wedding guests to join them.
\nIt was a fantastic way to transition from dinner to party mode, with guests naturally coming to the dance floor without feeling forced.<\/p>\n

Knowing I wanted to create some standout images for this tent wedding, while my couple was having dinner, I stepped outside the tent and climbed onto the venue\u2019s veranda area. From there, I lit only my couple while the rest of the lights softly illuminated the tables around them.<\/p>\n

This lighting created a beautiful effect that perfectly showcased the atmosphere and elegance of this tent wedding at Terrace on the Green.<\/p>\n

The Night Time Photos in The Gardens<\/h5>\n

As the DJ kept the dance floor packed, I went outside to see how I could capture the final series of photos for this tent wedding. There were string lights set up at one of their outdoor ceremony locations, so I already had a clear idea of what I wanted to do.
\nI created three photo scenarios, positioned my equipment, and took a few test shots. Then I went back inside to find my couple and invite them out for these nighttime photos in the garden.<\/p>\n

Michelle and Mark joined me in the garden, smiling, and together we created some amazing images with an intimate, romantic feel that perfectly wrapped up my wedding day coverage.
\nI was so happy that we were able to capture everything we had planned, and after my final photo, I hugged both of them and wished them a wonderful rest of their wedding night.<\/p>\n

Terrace on the Green, once again, helped a wedding couple bring their vision to life, while I was there to capture it all through my photographs.
