Wedding Venues in Southern Ontario

As a photographer, I don’t decide where or which wedding venues you celebrate your wedding – that’s your call. I’m there to make sure you have the best representation of your special day documented in photographs! It’s great for me because I love to photograph in new places. To keep things efficient, yet fun during the photo shoot, I scout out great lighting and backgrounds before your special day begins.

Perhaps I have photographed at a location venue that you would like to book for your wedding. Here is a list of the locations and venues I have experience working with.

1.) Graydon Hall Manor, Toronto

Nestled in the bustling city of Toronto, overlooking the Don Valley, is this high-end boutique wedding venue. The walls of the building are constructed of ancient stone which makes for a beautiful photo backdrop. There are many levels to the indoor and outdoor spaces, not only for photos but for guests to mingle and move around. I especially loved using the balcony (whether I was standing on it or the wedding couple was) for unique picture angles and perspectives. The staff at Graydon Hall Manor are eager to please it’s guests with endless opportunities to customize your event. From pink and red, to blue and purple, I have seen weddings and engagement parties held here with a variety of different accent colours used. Each time the colours changed the scenery, but the venue’s sophisticated feel was never compromised.

2.) Millcroft Inn & Spa, Caledon, ON

A great location to host a smaller wedding guest list, Millcroft Inn & Spa in Caledon is a classy establishment. One of my favourite spots to take photos at is in front of the cascading waterfall. It’s almost as though the original builders wanted to create a space specifically for photo shoots. There is a railing to protect you from falling in, yet it’s not an eye sore in images. The waterfall is centred perfectly in the background. There’s no need to travel, your out-of-town guests can reserve accommodations right at Millcroft Inn and Spa. Not only will they have a bed to sleep in, they’ll have access to the spa, pool and the grounds for walking. On the property is an old home that I also like to use for photo shoots. The home’s rustic look gives your wedding photos a soulful feeling.

3.) Toscana Banquet Hall, Vaughan, ON

Everyone can join in your celebration at a venue the size of Toscana Banquet Hall. As you probably know, having easy access to Highway 401 in the GTA is a big deal! It’s a big deal when you drive to the mall to shop and it’s a big deal when your guests are travelling in from out of town for your special day. While Toscana Banquet Hall isn’t ideal for a photo shoot, the venue is in a prime location. There are some great parks nearby for you and your wedding party to travel to take photos while your guests are mingling or grabbing a bite.

4.) The Coach House at Estates of Sunnybrook, Toronto, ON

From the ceremony to the wedding photographs, to the end of night party, the Estates of Sunnybrook is a gorgeous backdrop for you and your loved ones to celebrate your commitment. With your choice of three beautiful, historic buildings nestled within 40 acres of tree-filled land, you have the ability to make your reception and ceremony unique. The numerous gardens create nooks and crannies within the grounds to take photos of the bride and groom, their attendants and loved ones. Buildings that are historically intact, like the ones at this estate, provide interesting backgrounds and textures for my images. Between the buildings, the sunlight-filled indoors and the landscaping, Sunnybrook is a dream location to photograph at.

Estates of Sunnybrook is especially noted for their commitment to green living and fair trade. The chef at the estates has access to a vegetable garden with various herbs and vegetables such as cherry tomatoes, sage and rhubarb. As you can imagine, this ensures the food at Sunnybrook is always fresh as well as delicious!

5.) Trump Hotel, Toronto, ON

If you love your modern, fast-paced lifestyle, Trump Hotel is the perfect location for your wedding. Sleek, sharp structural lines and contemporary black, white and silver accents provide a background for eye-catching indoor photos. Make sure your wedding reception stands out with lighting and decorations that give your party a high-end, VIP club feel. When your guests feel like they need to take a walk, give them the scenery of a lifetime with a corridor that looks out over Toronto’s city lights. Lavish yourself in luxury at Trump Hotel Toronto and you won’t regret a single dollar spent!

6.) Destiny Banquet Hall, Toronto, ON

If you prefer a venue where you have the option to stay inside for your entire celebration, Destiny Banquet Hall is your place! Located in the heart of Woodbridge, you have many different options for a outdoor photo shoots. Parks with forests like Rowntree Mills Parks and G Ross Lord Park are close by and will give you a background with green grasses and leaves during the spring and summer. During the Fall, the leaves are in full colour which highlights you and your wedding party. My favourite part about photographing weddings at Destiny Banquet Hall is that there are so many options for indoor photos. The lighting is spectacular and there are many rooms to celebrate your ceremony and hold your reception all in one place. You can even provide midnight desserts for your guests in a completely different room. The staff transitions each room smoothly to prepare a new space for you and your guests. There is a fog machine available which makes your first dance pictures especially magical.

7.) Liberty Grand, Toronto, ON

Overseeing Lake Ontario in the heart of Toronto is the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex. Stone castle walls and a gorgeous outdoor courtyard make an unbelievable background for your wedding photo shoot. The depth of detail that went into the construction of this castle in the 1920’s is endless. I love to photograph using the intricate wallpaper and strong pillars inside and the romantic water fountain outside as backdrops. Since it is a castle, Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex has a classic look indoors. However, when it’s time to party during your reception, the lights and decorating changes to give the space a modern feel. Guests can wander the facility to get some air or engage in conversations outside in the courtyard with drinks in hand. I never let a bride and groom get away without a nighttime photo shoot – the city lights surround you in a romantic glow!

8.) Terrace on the Green, Mississauga, ON

There’s nothing that signifies fun and celebration like fireworks! Peter, the owner of Terrace on the Green, is proud to say his venue is one of the only places in town that is able to host a fireworks show. This is a rare opportunity and Peter is happy to set-up and release the fireworks himself. Family and friends are surprised by such a celebration and this is the perfect way to pick up the pace of the reception party! From manicured greens, to endless tree lines and bridges over water, Terrace on the Green is the perfect place for wedding photos. The food is delicious, able to be customized and the staff members are fantastic! Easily accessible, but nestled away from the bustling traffic on Mississauga road makes Terrace on the Green the perfect place to spend your entire wedding day – for your ceremony, pictures and reception.

9.) Paradise Banquet and Convention Center, Vaughan, ON

Perfect for hosting 100-450 guests, Paradise Banquet and Convention Center is a beautiful, well-located wedding venue. The staff prepare and serve gourmet main dishes, delicate desserts and colourful plates. Gorgeously decorated, my favourite part about this hall is it’s ability to transform. The lighting can be changed to accent your wedding colours, there are variations to the place settings and you can even hold your ceremony outside. There’s plenty of areas for your guests to mingle and catch up. The location is great for pictures, but if you prefer to go to a park, there is one right down the road that I really like.

10.) Caledon Golf and Country Club, Caledon, ON

Rolling sand-coloured rock hills, a long bridge over water and a gazebo. What could possibly make the wedding photo session any better? A golf cart. When you book your wedding at Caledon Golf and Country Club, you also get to drive a golf cart around from one photo location to the next. Even if you’re not a golfer, Caledon Golf and Country Club is a great place for a wedding because there are indoor and outdoor options and plenty of space for your guests. You can hold everything here – your ceremony outside by the gazebo (or inside in case of rain), reception inside and photos on the course.

11.) EdgeWater Manor, Stoney Creek, ON

If you’re looking for a high end venue to impress your guests, EdgeWater is the place to go. The well landscaped garden makes the perfect place for an outdoor ceremony or first dance under the stars. The food, decor and the fine touches in the architecture of the building are elegant. You can tell that there has been a lot of attention paid to the details in the construction of EdgeWater Manor in the 1920’s. The building has been maintained beautifully and there are many indoor and outdoor options for photo shoots. Just off the QEW, EdgeWater is the perfect place to book your whole wedding celebration.
